Jackie's Issues
- HPV Vaccination - The mandatory vaccination of adolescent girls sends an inappropriate message to impressionable youths while at the same time increasing the government's control over individuals in a free society. HPV is an important health issue and its cure and prevention are significant medical breakthroughs. However, families should not be wholly removed from the processed and replaced with faceless government.
- Mental Health Testing - Children should not be subjected to mental health screening without the consent of their parents. If new legislation is passed, schools would be able to test students without parental consent and in such a way that is not effective in properly diagnosing mental illness.
- School Funding - The disparity in school funding in Indiana is remarkable. There are school districts that receive state funding of more than $1,000 more per student than others. While it is clear that many of these school districts are in need of additional funds to improve the quality of education in the districts, other school districts should not be forced to cut essential programs due to severe funding constraints.
- Property Taxes - Property taxes are an important source of revenue for county and local governments. It is important that these rates are controlled so that individuals are not driven from our community. It is also essential that appropriate revenue streams be found for local governments so that the programs and services they provide can continue.
- Cop Killing - Indiana's law enforcement communities work tirelessly to preserve law and order in our state. It is critical that we support them in their efforts by passing legislation that provides for the most severe sentences for those who are convicted of murdering law enforcement officers. This will serve as a symbol of the seriousness of our community's protection of its law enforcement.
- Family Values - The preservation of traditional Hoosier family values is an important issue in Indiana today.
